According to Azernews, athletes from Azerbaijan will compete in the 2024 BRICS Sports Games in Kazan.
- Kazan, Tatarstan will host the sporting event from June 11–24.
- Eleven sporting disciplines, including rowing, canoeing, judo, table tennis, karate, sambo, and wrestling, will see 97 athletes from Azerbaijan put their mettle to the test.
- The BRICS countries organize the annual BRICS Sports Games, a multi-sport competition, intending to foster amicable sports relations amongst them by upholding the values of equality, non-discrimination, and equal access for athletes to contests.
- Since the football tournament was staged in India for the first time in 2016, the practice of hosting athletic events in the BRICS chair country has been in place.
- At the BRICS Sports Games Kazan 2024, almost 5,000 competitors will compete in 27 different sports.
- The BRICS Sports Ministers Meeting is slated for June 22–23 as part of the BRICS Sports Games.
