Famous pacer Wasim Akram expressed his disappointment with the Pakistani squad after they lost again on Sunday in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
Pakistan’s second World Cup loss in as many games came against India, their bitter rivals, by a margin of six runs.
Pakistani athletes believe that nothing bad would happen to them and that their coaches will be fired if they don’t do well. Akram stated on an Indian sports channel, “It’s time to change the entire team and keep the coaches.”
In addition, he criticized Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed for their batting in the low-scoring game.
“Iftikhar Ahmed is familiar with one leg-side shot. Despite being a member of the club for years, he is not a proficient batter. I’m unable to go notify Fakhar Zaman about the game knowledge,” he uttered.
“I can’t educate them; they’ve been playing cricket for ten years. Rizwan is not cognizant of the game. He ought to have recognized that Bumrah was handed the ball to take wickets and that playing his deliveries carefully would have been the prudent course of action. However, Rizwan lost his wicket after going for a massive hit, he continued.
After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bowl first on a wicket that had inconsistent bounce. India was bowled out for 119, with Rishabh Pant being the highest scorer with a fast knock of 42. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf both grabbed three wickets.
While India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah took crucial wickets to finish with figures of 3-14, Pakistan lost wickets at frequent intervals despite a patient 31 from Mohammad Rizwan to set the stage for the chase. In 20 overs, Pakistan was limited to 113-7.
In Group A, India have one foot in the Super 8 with two wins from their opening two matches while Pakistan have zero points from two losses following their upset by the hosts, the United States, in their first match.
