Minas Liarokapis’ Robots Shine at First Humanoid Olympiad

Minas Liarokapis, CEO of Acumino, organized the first International Humanoid Olympiad from August 29 to September 2, 2025, at the International Olympic Academy in Olympia, Greece. Robots showcased athletic skills like boxing, soccer, and archery, blending ancient Olympic legacy with cutting-edge physical AI.

Event Highlights

Led by Minas Liarokapis, the Olympiad featured robots like Unitree’s G1 boxing and Booster T1 playing soccer, alongside exhibitions of bionic limbs like Psyonic’s Ability Hand. Held in Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympics, the event drew global experts to push humanoid robotics forward.

Technological Significance

Minas Liarokapis emphasized Greece’s role in robotics, calling humanoids “physical AI.” Despite AI advancements like ChatGPT, robots lag in dexterity, with Liarokapis predicting over a decade before they master household tasks. The event highlighted real-world applications, from sports to prosthetics.

Future Outlook

Minas Liarokapis aims to make the Olympiad an annual event, showcasing progress in humanoid robots. With $3-5 billion in global humanoid investment expected, the next 12 months will be critical, says expert Luis Sentis, as robots tackle assembly and logistics challenges.

Challenges Ahead

Liarokapis noted that while robots excel in controlled settings, unstructured environments like homes remain the “final frontier.” Training data scarcity hinders progress, with humanoids potentially reaching space before households, per Liarokapis’ vision.
