Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the Russian counterpart, was officially welcomed by Vietnamese President To Lam on Thursday at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi.
At the invitation of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Putin and his entourage arrived in Hanoi early on the same day to begin a two-day state visit to Vietnam.
The Presidential Palace’s Guard of Honor is inspected by Presidents To Lam and Putin.
The Russian President is greeted with a gun salute.
The national anthems of both countries are being played by military bands as Presidents To Lam and Putin take the podium.
One of President Putin’s first visits after taking office for a fifth term in early May of this year, this is his fifth visit to the nation in Southeast Asia.
Given that both Vietnam and Russia are working to put the joint statement on the comprehensive strategic relationship vision to 2030 into practice, this visit is particularly significant in that it will further develop the two countries’ comprehensive strategic collaboration in all fields.
