Team USA men’s basketball team has secured its place in the knockout stage of the 2024 Olympics following a commanding 103-86 victory over South Sudan in their second group game on Wednesday.
The U.S. team dominated the game from start to finish, continuing their strong form after a decisive win against Serbia in their opening match. LeBron James had a strong start in the first quarter, while Jayson Tatum was included in the starting lineup after not playing in the previous game against Serbia. Although Tatum did not make a significant impact, the bench players stepped up in a big way.
Bam Adebayo led the team in scoring, putting up 18 points on 8 of 10 shooting, including 2 of 3 from beyond the arc. He also contributed seven rebounds, two blocks, one assist, and a steal. Anthony Edwards provided a spark off the bench with 10 points, including a quick five-point burst in the final seconds. Devin Booker, who started the game, added 12 points, rounding out the team’s double-digit scorers.
The contributions from Adebayo, Edwards, and Derrick White highlighted the depth and versatility of the U.S. roster. As they head into the quarterfinals, Team USA continues to display the skill and coordination that make them a top contender for the gold medal.
