The largest software event of the year, Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, or WWDC, is scheduled to take place. And one major event is anticipated to be scheduled.
Apple releases new software and features for all of its products during WWDC. As such, a number of new operating system versions, including iOS 18 for the iPhone, will be released.
Everything will become clear on June 10th, when Apple broadcasts its opening presentation live all throughout the world.
However, before the event, here is everything we know about WWDC 2024.
This year’s event is predicted to center around artificial intelligence (AI). Although Apple typically doesn’t reveal much about its launches, CEO of marketing Greg Joswiak has already announced this in advance, calling the event “Absolutely Incredible.” (His are the capital letters.)
Although it has been releasing similar technologies in both its hardware and software, Apple had long avoided using the term artificial intelligence (AI). Instead, it usually promoted these technologies as “proactive” or based on “machine learning.” After pressure from analysts and investors who thought it was falling behind, it appears that it is now prepared to use the term and make those updates more clear.
Although a significant AI focus is almost a given, it is unclear what the changes to AI will entail. However, it seems that Apple will mainly stick to its strategy of enhancing its operating system with fresh artificial intelligence updates rather than introducing eye-catching but perhaps pointless new features.
These might include automatically created Apple Music playlists, automated writing and coding help, and a more sophisticated Siri that can perform more tasks and have more effective conversations.
Rumor has it that Apple has been discussing developing more dramatic generative AI capabilities with OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, as well as Google. That may enable anybody to create an image simply by requesting one, for example.
Even if all Apple’s devices get is a better Siri, it’s probable that many of them will receive their own AI-infused updates. However, Apple typically prioritizes updating the iPhone before releasing new versions for other platforms, including the iPad.
Additional software updates
While AI will likely not be the only improvement, it will be the primary focus.
For example, there are rumors that the iPhone will have a more customizable home screen. This would free users from having to drop the apps into the current line-up grid and allow them to be placed anywhere they choose.
At WWDC, Apple usually releases updates for all of its devices, so new features for the Mac, Watch, Apple TV, Apple Vision Pro, and HomePod should be available. However, talk has centered on the new AI tools, and it’s unclear what those improvements could entail just yet.
In the UK and other countries, Vision Pro
The augmented reality headset that Apple debuted at last year’s WWDC was released in February. It then stated that it was en route to other nations, but as of right now, it has not been seen.
Still, a number of rumors indicate that it is finally on its way. According to Tim Cook, it will launch in China this year, and job postings indicate that Apple is getting ready to launch it in the UK, Australia, Japan, and other countries.
A wonderful chance to announce the headset’s public release would be WWDC.
The updated version of VisionOS, the operating system that drives the headset, should also be available from Apple. It may also reveal some of the new immersive material the firm has been criticized for not releasing for the headset soon enough after its sale.
