Philanthropist Chief Tunde Fanimokun, Chairman of the DSE Foundation, characterized Yaba College of Technology’s Rector, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, as a technological game changer and a source of pride, citing the breakthroughs the college has witnessed under his leadership.
Abdul has performed well, according to Fanimokun, the chairman of a public lecture held to commemorate the Rector’s first year in office.
Declaring that “Yabatech should be proud of having him as the Rector and a “game-changer” whose innovative ideas have positioned Yabatech at the forefront of tertiary education in Nigeria and beyond,” he praised Dr. Abdul for his simplicity and humility, qualities that have endearing him to the entire college community.
Pa George Majekodunmi Okufi, the College’s first Indigenous Rector, gave the keynote address and praised Dr. Abdul for his creative leadership style, which he claimed had improved the College noticeably.
Pa Okufi noted, “The Rector’s hard work, dedication, and consistency are already bearing fruits,” and he urged the College community to support Dr. Abdul’s goal of raising the College to international standards.
The Southwest Zonal Director of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Elder Ayo Aroge, commended the Rector for improving the College’s standards. He also mentioned that the sector would benefit greatly from the Rector’s dedication to technical and vocational education and training (TVET), which is in line with the NBTE’s mission to support the development of skills throughout Nigeria.
The Rector of Redeemers College of Technology and Management (RECTEM), Dr. Awoh Stella Mofunanya, gave a thought-provoking talk on “Leadership and Service: The Need for Creativity, Innovation, and Excellence” as the guest lecturer.
