After defeating Bangladesh by 28 runs in a wet Antigua to start the Super Eight stage, Australia is scuffling its way into the Twenty20 World Cup semi-finals. Together with the highly effective Adam Zampa (two for 24), Pat Cummins (three for 29) became just the fourth Australian player to complete a T20I hat-trick. Together, they held Bangladesh to 140-8 at the bat. Australia’s attempt to chase down the runs was cut short by two consecutive rain delays, but when play was halted in the 12th over, retiring David Warner (53 not out from 35 balls) made sure they were well ahead of the DLS par total. The score for Mitch Marsh’s team was 100 for two. If Australia defeats Afghanistan in their second of three Super Eight games on Sunday, they will most likely advance to the North American tournament’s final four.
