A new portable internet solution called Starlink Mini has been introduced by SpaceX, and the hardware is being offered to early customers.
The offer was made via an email campaign by SpaceX. Redditors first saw it at r/Starlink.
For $599, you can get the Starlink Mini Kit, which is a compact and lightweight substitute for the main Starlink dish. For an additional $30 per month, customers can upgrade their Residential plan to include the Mini Roam service. July is when deliveries are expected to start.
Features and Specifications of the Starlink Mini
Among the Starlink Mini’s primary characteristics are:
63 percent less weight than the typical Starlink dish.
decreased power usage, a DC power input, an integrated WiFi router, and maximum download speeds greater than 100 Mbps.
Compact design that is just little bigger than a piece of paper and fits neatly inside a backpack.
functional in a temperature range of -22°F to 122°F (-30°C to 50°C).
Starlink Mini Costs and Schedules
The Starlink Mini is an add-on to current residential plans in the United States. The kit costs $599, which is $100 more than the typical dish.
Up to 50GB of mobile data are included in the $30/month Mini Roam subscription; more data is available for $1 per GB.
Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, claimed that setting up the Starlink Mini just takes a few minutes.
Global Implementation
The Starlink Mini can be purchased with Mini Service or Mobile-Regional Service plans in Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Panama. While in-motion and ocean use are forbidden, these places do not impose data or speed limitations.
Future Growth
SpaceX wants to lower the cost of Starlink everywhere, particularly in places where internet connectivity is either too expensive or scarce.
The Starlink Mini will initially be available in high-demand areas such as the US at a higher price due to greater utilization of satellite networks. In the future, SpaceX intends to bring the Starlink Mini to additional markets.
