June 10, Los Angeles, California (ANI): The prequel to “Game of Thrones,” “House of the Dragon,” starring actor Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen, recently disclosed that he hasn’t watched the original series.
Ewan Mitchell discussed the franchise in-depth in an interview with ComicBook, explaining to Deadline why he hasn’t watched “Game of Thrones.”
“I haven’t seen the original Game of Thrones,” he declared. I must admit something. Before taking on this role, I had never seen it, and I had no desire to watch it.”
Mitchell went on, “I didn’t want that to influence my choices in any way, form, or aspect—consciously or unconsciously, you know. I wanted to introduce a novel idea.
You understand that Aemond is unique.”
In December 2023, George R.R. Martin, the creator of House of the Dragon, hinted that he was already collaborating with the writing staff on Seasons 3 and 4 of the fantasy series.
“I spent two days locked in a room with Ryan Condal and his writing staff (Sara Hess, Ti Mikkel, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett) talking about the third and fourth seasons of House of the Dragon,” Martin stated on his website. “We accomplished some solid work during these vigorous and enjoyable talks, but two days was far too short. Twenty days might not have been enough because there is so much land to cover.”
Martin added that he had watched two House of Dragons Season 2 rough cuts, saying, “I thought both episodes were really fantastic. (Plus, they haven’t even been completed.).
But be mindful of the dark. really dim. You could cry after seeing them. (Although one of my friends cried, I did not.). strong, poignant, gut-wrenching, and heartbreaking. It’s exactly what I enjoy. (What am I supposed to say? I grew up on Shakespeare, and my favorite plays are the tragedies and historical ones.”
