- Kraken said on Thursday that it has fixed an issue that was enabling users of the site to summon free money into their accounts for months at a time.
- Chief Security Officer Nick Peroco stated in a tweet that early this month, his team found an “isolated bug” that allowed users to “artificially inflate their balance.” It wasn’t until June 9 that the team learned about it via a security researcher’s bug bounty program notice, in which they claimed to have detected a “very critical bug” in their system.
- “The feature in question became available on the platform in January,” Kraken’s communications head, Alexander Cassells, said to Decrypt via email.
- Percoco claims that customers can begin deposits to Kraken and get credit to their accounts before the transaction is finalized.
