Further charges of plagiarism were made against NewJeans by BELIFT LAB. The ADOR group is accused by the agency of copying BLACKPINK. A former worker at YG Entertainment responded to it.
Recently, BELIFT LAB accused NewJeans of stealing BLACKPINK’s clothing concept. On their official YouTube account, they uploaded images of the two groups as proof to prove how NewJeans tried copying. To this, an ex-creative director of YG Entertainment offered his opinion on the charges.
NewJeans is accused by BELIFT LAB of allegedly duplicating BLACKPINK.
On June 10, BELIFT LAB resorted to their official YouTube page and posted a video answering Min Hee Jin’s claims against their rookie girl group ILLIT. They vehemently refuted the accusations made by the ADOR CEO in the film while discussing the distinctions between ILLIT and NewJeans.
Furthermore, according to the agency official, NMIXX, BLACKPINK, and Mexican female group Jeans are just a few of the groups that NewJeans continues to imitate.
Specifically, they displayed two images as a side-by-side comparison between NewJeans members and BLACKPINK during their debut. They claimed the ADOR group ‘copied’ BLACKPINK’s tennis skirt and uniform attire concept.
A former creative director of BLACKPINK’s firm, YG Entertainment, posted a narrative on his Instagram following the latest plagiarism accusations against NewJeans. The person responded to BELIFT LAB’s assertions by stating that the two ideas are “totally different.”
Netizens quickly began bringing out the fact that tennis skirts and uniforms are not unique to any one group, as the K-pop business has been using them for a considerable amount of time.
Internet users respond to NewJeans’s plagiarism claim
Numerous individuals expressed their opinion that the pioneering electropop group f(x) was the one who started the trend with this idea. Particularly, the tennis skirt gained popularity because of the group’s attire from their second studio album, Pink Tape.
Notably, Min Hee Jin, the CEO of NewJeans agency ADOR, was SM Entertainment’s creative director for f(x)’s Pink Tape at the time. Many people believed that BELIFT LAB’s charges were unfounded.
Meanwhile, Min Hee Jin’s claim that ILLIT “copied” NewJeans sparked a wave of plagiarism allegations against the two girl groups. These assertions soon played a significant role in the ongoing conflict between ADOR and HYBE for dominance.
Subsequently, accusations that the ADOR group’s concept is fake and has been lifted verbatim by numerous other artists also started to surface.
