Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, seems to be rather upset by Apple’s choice to collaborate with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT. Shortly after Apple’s WWDC2024 speech concluded, Musk unleashed an almost full-fledged assault on the firm. Musk criticized Apple in a string of tweets and responses on X, the old Twitter, over its collaboration with OpenAI.
Musk called the ChatGPT integration in iPhones and other Apple devices an “unacceptable security violation” and criticized it harshly.
Musk issued a warning to owners of iPhones and other Apple devices, saying, “Once they give your data to OpenAI, Apple has no idea what’s actually going on.” You’re being sold down the river by them.
The CEO of Tesla further described Apple’s inability to create its own artificial intelligence as “patently absurd,” adding that “it is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy.”
Musk also said that none of his businesses will allow iPhones. “Apple devices will not be allowed in my company if Apple incorporates OpenAI at the OS level. That is an intolerable breach of security,” Musk wrote. “And visitors will have to check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage,” Musk said.
Elon Musk: Samsung and he might collaborate to create an X-phone
In an attempt to challenge the Apple-OpenAI partnership, Musk even hinted that he would release an X phone of his own and mentioned Samsung as a possible partner that cannot be ruled out when replying to a follower on X.
Musk said, “It is not out of the question,” to an X user who stated that “X will partner with Samsung to manufacture an X phone” that would be optimized for the X app, have an open-source operating system (OS), and have a “direct connection to Starlink.”
Apple and OpenAI’s major announcement
Every year, Apple holds the Worldwide Developers Conference, or WWDC, to reveal the newest iteration of the software that drives Macs, iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and Apple TVs. This year, Apple’s collaboration with OpenAI was a major focal point of the WWDC presentation. Apple partnered with OpenAI to enter the race to integrate generative artificial intelligence into its gadgets.
Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, sat in the front row of the crowded conference to announce the partnership with Apple. In a statement, Altman said, “We’re making it easier for people to benefit from what AI can offer together with Apple.”
