PCB Chief says the board will go for a “major surgery” because “minor surgery” is insufficient for the Babar Azam-led team

Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), was blunt in his criticism of the Babar Azam-led team’s six-run defeat to India in the T20 World Cup.

Numerous Pakistani media sites cited Naqvi as saying, “It seemed initially that a minor surgery would suffice but following the extremely poor performance against India, it is clear that a major surgery is necessary.”

“This is our worst performance yet. Our main task is to raise the team’s performance.

“The manner we lost to the USA and now this loss to India is really disheartening. We must now begin considering players in addition to those who are currently on the club,” he stated.

Naqvi, who became the government’s interior minister after taking over as chairman in January, was very clear that the PCB has done everything possible to help the players.

Everyone wants to know why the team is not performing. The World Cup continues to play. However, it goes without saying that we will sit down and examine everything.

The chairman of the PCB proposed that the board’s current focus will be on assembling a strong team for Pakistan’s anticipated hosting of the Champions Trophy in 2019.

He declared, “It’s time to give new talent sitting on the sidelines a chance and to prepare the team for the Champions Trophy.”

The final two games for Pakistan are against Ireland and Canada. In the hopes that other games will go their way, they will need to win the match by a wide margin.
