Reese Lang Powers Waterford Victory Over Fort Frye

In a dominant display of sharpshooting, junior Reese Lang powered the Waterford Wildcats to a commanding 63-42 victory over the rival Fort Frye Cadets on Tuesday night, February 3, 2026.

Lang’s performance at the Harry W. Cooper Annex was nothing short of historic, as he single-handedly dismantled the Cadets’ defense early to ensure Waterford maintained their momentum heading into the post-season.

The Lang Explosion

From the opening tip, Reese Lang set the tone for the Wildcats, showcasing deep range and elite scoring efficiency.

  • Scoreboard Impact: Lang finished with a game-high 34 points, nearly outscoring the entire Fort Frye roster in the first half.

  • From Downtown: He connected on seven 3-pointers, utilizing high screens to create space and forcing the Cadets out of their zone defense.

  • First Quarter Surge: Behind Lang’s hot hand, Waterford built a double-digit lead in the first eight minutes and never trailed for the remainder of the contest.

Key Stats & Team Effort

While Lang provided the offensive fireworks, the Wildcats’ defense and secondary scoring provided the stability needed to close out the rivalry win.

  • Fort Frye Resistance: Caden Henniger led the Cadets with 17 points (14 in the second half), while Hesson contributed 12 points in the losing effort.

  • Inside Presence: Kainan Bradford battled for the Fort, securing a team-high nine rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the perimeter barrage from Waterford.

Looking Ahead: Tournament Momentum

This win marks a significant sweep for Waterford, who also defeated Fort Frye in a 51-48 thriller back in January. The “Season of the Wildcat” continues as they solidify their seeding for the upcoming sectional tournament.

“We’re having a lot of fun now. You get through the downs and now we’re on an up. We just believe in our guys… we came together as brothers.” — Reese Lang, 2026
