For the second half of 2024, UBS responds to three important investor queries

Analysts at UBS have offered their perspectives on the main queries that investors will have in the latter part of 2024 and early 2025.

The S&P 500 has gained 15% so far this year, despite ongoing inflation and increasing interest rates, because to confidence surrounding artificial intelligence. This is how UBS responds to the main worries raised by investors:

Interest Rates and Economic Growth: According to UBS, major central banks will likely decrease interest rates in response to weaker inflation and economic growth statistics. UBS advised investors to “move excess cash holdings into quality fixed income” as a means of getting ready. Lower US interest rates might help commodities while also depreciating the US currency. “Sell into dollar strength and seek opportunities in various commodity markets,” is UBS’s advice to investors.

The AI Investment Opportunity: One of the biggest investment possibilities in history, according to UBS, is what AI represents. UBS stressed that investors must make sure their portfolios are “AI-enabled.” Positive industries include Chinese and US vertically integrated oligopolies and semiconductor businesses. Nonetheless, UBS advises capital preservation techniques and issues a warning on the possibility that worries of overinvestment might cause a market drop.

US Election and Market Volatility: UBS predicts higher equities market volatility ahead of the US presidential election. According to UBS, “it is prudent to consider risk management approaches.” They argue that while financials would benefit from a Trump win, the US consumer discretionary and renewable energy sectors might be in danger. Gold is another asset that UBS emphasizes as a strong hedge against economic and geopolitical risk.

UBS emphasizes the significance of adjusting portfolios for the US election, interest rate fluctuations, and the changing AI environment as the year goes on. It suggests using a balanced combination of bonds, stocks, and alternatives to manage uncertainty.
