Freeman Walkoff Wins Series

Freddie Freeman crushed a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning at Dodger Stadium, rocketing the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 7-4 walkoff victory over the New York Yankees and clinching their eighth World Series title in a 4-1 series triumph. The blast—Freeman’s fourth RBI of the night—landed 412 feet away in the right-field pavilion, turning a 4-4 deadlock into instant euphoria and sending 56,000 fans into a blue-and-white frenzy.

Freeman, battling through a sprained ankle that had hobbled him all postseason, finished 2-for-5 with the decisive swing. His 12th career playoff homer tied him with Justin Turner for the most in Dodgers postseason history. Mookie Betts set the table with three hits, including a leadoff double in the 11th that chased Yankees reliever Jake Cousins. Teoscar Hernández followed with a single, and after an intentional walk to Max Muncy loaded the bases, Freeman turned on a 98-mph fastball and deposited it over the wall.

Gerrit Cole had kept the Yankees alive through six innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits while striking out eight. New York rallied from a 3-0 deficit with solo homers from Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisholm Jr., then tied it in the ninth on Giancarlo Stanton’s sacrifice fly. The Dodgers’ bullpen—Blake Treinen, Alex Vesia, and Michael Kopech—stranded five runners across the 8th through 10th before the 11th-inning eruption.

Los Angeles relievers combined for five scoreless innings after starter Jack Flaherty exited, allowing just two hits while navigating traffic. The Yankees left 11 on base and went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position. Anthony Volpe’s 10th-inning error on a potential double-play ball kept the Dodgers alive, setting the stage for Freeman’s heroics.

This wasn’t just a homer; it was a coronation. Freeman’s quiet power—evident in a .275 postseason average with three homers and 11 RBIs—delivered LA’s first walkoff World Series clincher since Kirk Gibson’s iconic 1988 limp-off. The Dodgers’ 98-win campaign culminated in a championship built on depth, resilience, and one swing that silenced Yankee Stadium North. In baseball’s majestic march, Freeman’s 11th-inning thunder unveiled the durable dance of dynasty.
