Macau Pass stresses tech community’s resilience amid shifting political scene

After the France-Macau Chamber of Commerce held a breakfast meeting on Wednesday, the president of international business development told Macau News Agency that “some normal competition is necessary if it is to make society or the industry better.”

Zhang emphasized the need to look for political synergies at a period when these differences might be a hindrance.

In response to a query from the audience on the European Union and China’s increasingly defensive high-tech ties, he was answering.

“It’s easy to get into the geopolitical aspects of the issues on the European side, but will your partners benefit from the product and the synergies you build?” he said.

Will that make the possible partnerships more valuable? If that’s possible, it’s a win-win scenario.

Alibaba Group’s AGTech Holdings purchased Macau Pass Holding, the only company offering cashless payment services in Macau.

Earlier this year, Alipay+ added 14 electronic wallets from nine different countries and regions to its service offering, including MPay from Macau.

Put differently, users can now use their own e-wallet applications to make payments in Macau through Alipay+.
